Literally, because the 300-lap scooter race and the weather create a truly Spartan atmosphere.

The 2nd round of the ASG300 scooter competition, which was again organized by Hunakamo, started at 7 am on 10.07.2021 at RabócsiRing. The competition is open to teams in two categories, amateur and competition/professional. Accordingly, the second race was held in a similar framework. We had 6 teams in total, the same teams that had competed in the first round, but the last weekend brought a couple of surprises.

All in all, the guys started again with experience, which paid off as all teams improved on their first race results. The first team finished the 300 laps in 12:39, which I will talk about later. A few minutes after the first finish, the silver medallists arrived and completed the 300 laps in 4 hours 41 minutes, 2 minutes and 2 seconds behind the first team. G.G.S. RACERS members Péter Ondreák, Márk Gazsi and Zoltán Fábri were the two runners in the category, and they finished second in the csupan category.

Another special feature of the race is that you don't have to complete 300 laps, but you have a total of 5 hours to do so. Of the 4 teams in the amateur category, only one was able to complete the number of laps in the time allowed. They, Tibor Lukács and Zoltán Zsarecz of Kanyarvadász Racing TM, completed their laps in 4 hours and 49 minutes, winning the gold medal in the amateur category. The GasHoleRacers team finished in second place with an 11-lap deficit, while Hrabovszki Motorsport finished third with a 16-lap deficit.

Last but not least, I would like to highlight Zoltán Aszalós, the only rider of the Scooter Maffia team, who happened to be the winner of the competition category all by himself. In my humble opinion, it can be brutal to beat on the 50-60 degrees asphalt from 7 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon with 3 people, all this in full protector overalls on a scooter with a maximum 50 cc, even if you do it alone! However, Aszalós did not shy away from the task and after winning the first race, he decided to raise the stakes a bit and take on the challenge alone.
Sitting in the paddock, I've seen Asalos get off the scooter several times, his hands shaking, his legs shaking, the water breaking and you're not sure if he's going to stay standing for the next few seconds. But he does stay standing and he does get back on the bike and he does carry it through, and he carries it through and he wins. From a few words exchanged with the bravura rider, it was a really demanding task, but if you're in the mindset and you decide to do it, you do it. By his own admission, he's sure to lose 3kg during a race like this, so it's pure luck that he has the fuel to make up for it at RabócsiRing.

The next ASG300 scooter race will take place on 28 August 2021 as part of the "Drift Party of the Year" organised by Drifting.hu, the TRACKWOOD drift festival. Entries are still open to anyone with the right scooter and equipment. And if you're not a two-wheeled type, don't miss this great event, it's a refreshing addition to a real drift festival. And of course, if you're already there for TRACKWOOD... And it's not over yet, because once TRACKWOOD is over, you can get your gear and head over to Lake Leveleki, because Hunakamo has prepared a SUP Race for its guests after the real petrolhead experience.
